Financial Product Underwriting Handoff Flow

Overview

The Financial Product Underwriting Handoff Flow is a Salesforce automation that creates an operational case when a financial product opportunity reaches Closed Won. It is designed for wealth management and insurance teams where the sales process must hand off cleanly to underwriting, account funding, or operations.

Business Problem

Closing a financial product opportunity is not the end of the process. Insurance, advisory, funding, and annuity workflows usually require follow-up activity, accurate data transfer, and clear assignment to the operational team. Manual handoffs create delay and can lead to missing advisor, account, contact, or product details. In regulated financial environments, incomplete handoff data can create downstream service and compliance issues.

How It Works

The accelerator uses a record-triggered Flow on the Salesforce Opportunity object. When an opportunity is moved to Closed Won, the automation creates a linked case for the next operational step. It maps the correct record type, links the advisor and account, carries over the primary contact role, and aligns the case type for insurance-related products. The result is a consistent transition from sales activity to operational processing without relying on users to manually create or populate the follow-up case.

Where This Fits

This accelerator fits financial services organizations using Opportunities to track sales and Cases to manage underwriting, policy issuance, funding, or post-sale processing. The flow logic can be adapted for different financial product lines, record types, and operational teams while preserving the core pattern of a controlled Salesforce handoff from revenue capture to fulfillment. For reuse, the implementation should start by confirming the object model, required fields, record types, status values, ownership rules, and security model in the target Salesforce org. The existing pattern can then be adjusted for naming, page layout placement, validation rules, reporting needs, and integration points. Sample records should be used to test the automation path, exception handling, and user-facing screens before rollout. This keeps the accelerator grounded in the original delivered pattern while allowing the details to fit the new organization and its operating process fully.
