Overview

Custom Sales Pipeline & Quoting Architecture is a Salesforce solution designed for organizations that need a structured sales and quoting process without relying on standard Opportunity management. The accelerator uses a custom Transaction object as the primary sales record and supports multiple business lines through configurable record types, sales stages, and product relationships. It provides a complete transaction lifecycle from qualification through proposal generation while supporting complex operational processes that do not align with standard Sales Cloud functionality.

Business Problem

Many organizations have sales processes that extend beyond traditional opportunity management. Different divisions may follow distinct workflows, require specialized data structures, or need transaction records that behave differently from standard Salesforce Opportunities. In these situations, forcing the business into a standard CRM model can create unnecessary complexity. A custom transaction-centric architecture provides greater flexibility while maintaining a consistent sales process, reporting structure, and user experience.

How It Works

The accelerator uses a custom Transaction object to manage sales activity and project-based opportunities across multiple business lines. Record types support different transaction categories such as Automation, CO2 Solutions, and Distribution, allowing each business area to maintain its own process while operating within a shared platform. A Transaction Product junction object manages product relationships and provides functionality similar to Opportunity Products. Dynamic Sales Paths guide users through the lifecycle of a transaction, while Conga Composer generates Firm Proposals and Budgetary Proposals directly from transaction data. The architecture delivers quoting, product management, and transaction tracking without relying on standard Opportunity or Quote objects.
